About CNA

CNA is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with registered Professional Engineers and other technical and office staff offering professional engineering services to the construction and mining industry in the area of geotechnical, geostructural, civil, structural and construction engineering. Most, but not all, of the company projects are constructed in the ground. A sample of these projects includes tunnels by open-cut and mined methods for utilities, highway, highway portals, storage, stream flows, water, sanitary and storm sewers varying in width from 1 ft to 75 ft; steam, telephone and electrical tunnels, transit routes and stations; underground space for activities such as industrial and office use, laboratories, storage and power plants; hydropower dams; mines and foundation design for dynamic loadings and natural stone building facades. Our firm designed the excavation and support for the University of Minnesota Civil Engineering building and the Andersen Library.

Job Description

CNA offers the full range of services including technical and economic feasibility studies, preliminary design, design reviews, geotechnical analysis, geotechnical reports, final design, contract documents and construction administration for owners and special studies for owners, contractors and other parties.

Student employees work closely with our Professional Engineers. Tasks include creating and completing AutoCAD drawings, databases, spreadsheets and assisting with designs. Field site work includes surveying and observation of construction conditions.

Key Requirements

Experience with personal computers, CAD and surveying helpful. Will take direction from engineers and leadership staff, responsible for the timely completion of assigned tasks. Should be able to interact and function effectively in a team environment. Ideal candidates will be freshman, sophomore or junior year students pursuing degrees in civil, structural or geotechnical engineering.
