Tunnel, Shaft, and Cavern Design
Design of these underground structures is CNA Engineer’s core business. Our project history and expertise spans the full range of subsurface materials, depth, span, length, diameter, and use. We have designed projects with a few feet of cover up to 5,000-ft deep; in soft ground, soft rock and hard rock. Projects include storm sewer, sanitary sewer and other utility tunnels and shafts, occupied underground space, science facilities, transportation tunnels, and warehousing.
Tunnel Management Planning
We specialize in developing management plans for tunnels and large-diameter pipelines. These plans can be used to determine the condition and the value of the infra-structure. A unique inspection and data recording system is used to gather data that is analyzed, evaluated and recorded in a condition assessment report.
We rate the structural condition of each tunnel segment for purposes of prioritizing maintenance, repairs and rehabilitation. Our firm designs repair and rehabilitation methods for unlined and lined tunnels of concrete, reinforced concrete, masonry, block, tile, steel or other materials, constructed in soil or rock as well as providing alternative methods for repair and rehabilitation and their associated cost estimates.
